Happy Thanksgiving!
There is a note going home today to explain our fun at the feast! Thank you again to all who helped to donate food. We had a great time. I hope all of you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
You’ll notice on our new December calendar that we have gotten through our first round of SuperStars and will no longer assign days ahead of time. The children will be surprised as we pick out a new Superstar each day from a basket. December 2009
**On the previous post of this blog, you may have noticed that I included the art fair as a Tuesday, Nov. 24 event. That was WRONG information. I recently deleted that from the entry. The true date is Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 4-7. I’m so sorry for the confusion.
Weekly Update
Here are a few reminders for Tuesday, November 24:
- We have completed our unit of the first Thanksgiving and are so EXCITED for our feast! Please remember to send in an extra juice box for Tuesday so that our kindergarteners will have a drink to go along with their turkey cup of goodies.
- Please send in 20 pennies to help us practice math skills.
- Scholastic book order is due. You may want to use this for our Holiday book exchange.

Reminders
Hi Everyone!
This is just a reminder to please send in your feast food item by the end of the week. The Mon/Wed. classes will need all the items for their feast next week Monday. Then we’ll follow with our feast on Tuesday. Thank you for your generosity to help make our Thanksgiving feast great!
Additionally, we will have a show-n-tell time on Friday this week. The children will be asked to show an item that they are thankful for. Please have your child ready to share what it is and why they are thankful for it. Thank you!
Weekly Update
Thank you to everyone who has sent in your family feather for our class turkey. Each feather adds great personality to our large turkey in the hall!

Art News
Here is a message from our wonderful art teacher:
You have another opportunity to RSVP for our upcoming December 1st Kids Art Fair! An RSVP form and Art Fair information will be sent home with students this week.
Please note that returning your RSVP to Mrs. Brouwer does NOT mean that you must purchase your child’s framed artwork. The RSVP just lets the Kids Art Fair people know how many frames to ship to Georgetown for the event. So please RSVP if you plan to attend and celebrate your child’s creativity, enjoy a fun make-n-take art project, and register for some cool door prizes to be given away during the evening.
Also – Georgetown’s December Kids Art Fair does not take the place of the annual district-wide Student Art Show, which will be held as usual in April 2010.
We hope to see you at Georgetown’s Art Fair on December 1st between 4-7 PM! Volunteers are still needed to help out – please contact Mrs. Brouwer!

Weekly Update
This update is posted late due to sickness in my family. I think we are finally on the mend and getting back to normal health! YEA! I hope all of your families are well.
It was wonderful to meet everyone during conferences. Thank you for showing such great support for you child’s education. I am truly honored to be a part of your child’s life this year.
REMINDERS: Our school is working to collect non-perishable goods for PE Cares through Nov. 18. Our class is excited about helping people in need and is also motivated to earn a class trip to the bowling alley. Please help us contribute to this very worthy cause. We also had an assembly this week that your child may want to tell you more about. See the previous posting on the blog for a video.

Champions Assembly
On Thursday of this week, we hosted the very talented Crevier Family from South Dakota. Bruce, Diane and their nine children spun basketballs on their fingers, road unicycles, trained our staff to do ball catching tricks, and fed applesauce to four very brave student! They entertained us for over an hour (two presentations back to back) and we were in awe of their skills. If you watch this slide show with your children, I am sure that they will be able to share more than these photos portray!
Many thanks to our PTC for funding this assembly. We appreciate ALL that you do for us.
Time is Running Out
Dear Parents,
Time is running out to let your voices be heard in Lansing. Our Superintendent, Nicholas Ceglarek, is inviting parents to email, call and/or attend an event in Lansing on November 10. To find out more, please visit the school blog.
School Funding Crisis – A Message from our Superintendent
Time is running out. Our Governor and legislative leaders in Lansing are proposing devastating cuts to public education. In addition to the $165 per pupil cut to all public schools, the State Budget Director has notified school leaders another $127 per pupil cut is coming in less than 30 days. The only way this will not happen is if our Governor and legislators can agree to a funding solution addressing the revenue shortfall. To find out how to help prevent this funding crisis, please listen to my message and visit the links here: FUNDING CRISIS
